چکیده
Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment, 2003 luminium (Al; CAS # 7429-90-5; molecular weight 26.98) is a silvery-white, pliable metal usually found in compounds as Al 3+ (WHO 1997). It is the most abundant metal in the earth’s crust, and the third most common element (Sparling and Lowe 1996). Aluminium is very light (density = 2.70 g·cm), capable of being hammered, cast, drawn out, machined, and moulded, and is therefore easily formed into many shapes (Frank et al. 1985, as cited in WHO 1997). Aluminium is found in a variety of minerals, usually combined with elements such as silicon, oxygen, phosphates, fluorine, and hydroxides, to name a few (Lide 1991, as cited in WHO 1997; Frank et al. 1985; Hudson et al. 1985).

Investigating the Effects of Cold Bulge Forming Speed on Thickness Variation and Mechanical Properties of Aluminum Alloys: Experimental and Numerical
In this work, cold bulge forming of an Aluminium-Magnesium (Al-Mg) sheet with a solid bulging medium is performed experimentally and numerically. Mechanical properties and thickness variations of Al-Mg sheet are evaluated before and after the forming process. The results indicated that the Al-Mg sheet has taken the desired shape without necking using the cold bulge forming process. Also, the...
متن کاملExperimental Study of Sable Crack Growth in Thin Aluminium Sheet
Recent failure information from research teams in NASA Langley and others has shown that CTOA based fracture models calibrated on large C(T) and M(T) specimens can be transferred successfully to cracked aircraft fuselage structures for the assessment of their residual strength. A major difficulty that could limit the more extensive use of this failure parameter is its experimental measurement e...
متن کاملMulti-objective optimization of geometrical parameters for constrained groove pressing of aluminium sheet using a neural network and the genetic algorithm
One of sheet severe plastic deformation (SPD) operation, namely constrained groove pressing (CGP), is investigated here in order to specify the optimum values for geometrical variables of this process on pure aluminium sheets. With this regard, two different objective functions, i.e. the uniformity in the effective strain distribution and the necessary force per unit weight of the specimen, are...
متن کاملEffect of aluminium sheet surface conditions on feasibility and quality of resistance spot welding
A study investigating the effect of sheet surface condition on resistance spot welding (RSW) of aluminium has been carried out at the University of Warwick. This concentrates on two commercial automotive aluminium alloys; AA5754 and AA6111, used for structural and closure applications respectively. The results show the marked effect that surface condition can have on the RSW process. For AA5754...
متن کاملStudies on Distortion of Dissimilar Thin Sheet Weld Joints Using Laser Beam Welding
To achieve reliable welds with minimum distortion for the fabrication of components in aerospace industry laser beam welding is attempted. Laser welding can provide a significant benefit for the welding of Titanium and Aluminium thin sheet alloys of its precision and rapid processing capability. For laser welding, pulse shape, energy, duration, repetition rate and peak power are the most import...
